CV 8th Grade Ballars Win 4 in National Contest at Los Angeles

8th grade girls’ all-star basketball
team (the CV Ballars) won four
out of six games at the National
Junior Basketball (NJB) All-Star
Tournament in Los Angeles April
11-13. Competing with teams
from different parts of the country
the Ballars took third place
in a bracket consisting of 12
teams.

The Canyon Condors

The Canyon Condors seventh grade boys baskbetball team won the Hayward Area Recreation District Championship against Bret Harte on March 29, winning 49-37 and ending a solid season with a 9-1 record.

Jamie Esmeyer
This week’s Athlete of the Week is Jamie Esmeyer a Senior at Castro Valley High School.
Jamie is a starter at 3rd base for the CVHS softball team. She has a batting average of .412, with 5 homeruns and 21 RBI’s and a slugging percentage of .765.
The team is ranked number 12 in the state and Jamie is one of the top 20 sports players in Northern California, according to Cal High Sports.

Tyler Tate
This week’s Athlete of the Week is Tyler Tate a sixth-grader at Creekside Middle School.
Tyler started the first half of baseball season with a bang.
On offense, he has a .700 batting average and has provided his team with five home-runs, three of which have been grand-slams!
