‘Il Trovatore’ Returns to Festival Opera Next Week

Festival Opera in Walnut Creek will bring Giuseppe Verdi’s stirring masterpiece Il Trovatore back to its stage for the first time in 15 years beginning Saturday, July 12.

Il Trovatore (The Troubadour) with its mix of obsession, madness and retribution, has been entertaining audiences since 1853 when it debuted in Rome.

Artists, Friends Remember Joy Gladding

A group of friends, local artists and HARD employees gathered Monday afternoon at the Adobe Art Gallery to celebrate the life of Joy Gladding, who had died the week before after a short illness.

Mrs. Gladding, who had lived in CV for the past 45 years and was well-known in local art circles. She served as the Adobe Gallery Coordinator for several years in partnership with her husband, the late Ernest B. Gladding.

Just thinking about it is enough to give you frights. Singing in front of hundreds of people while a wild announcer known only as “Matt the Mad Music Man” might sound intimidating, but hundreds of people have discovered that it is actually a lot of fun.

Welcome to karaoke nights at Dino’s restaurant in Castro Valley. For the past four years, patrons of all ages have come to the bar to sing songs from the past half decade. The song could be a slow-paced oldie or a fast-paced country song; all are available for play.
