The Castro Valley Forum, published Wednesdays, is the only newspaper with an office and newsroom in Castro Valley (upstairs at 3742 Castro Valley Blvd., CV 94546) and the only publication hand-delivered to virtually every residence in the community (more than 22,000 copies weekly). The Forum and its sister publication, the San Leandro Times, are two of the very few privately-owned newspapers still in existence in Northern California. The papers are free and published weekly by the local EastBay Publishing Corporation. The Forum was founded by Karen Kaiser in 1989 and sold to EastBay Publishing in the summer of 2000.
