The Castro Valley Library, part of the Alameda County Library System, is located at 20055 Redwood Road, Castro Valley 94546, phone 670-6280, TTY 888-663-0660. The hours are:

Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sundays 1-5 p.m.
Mondays and Tuesdays, noon - 8 p.m.
Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.- 6 p.m.
Fridays – Closed

A new, much larger library building is projected to open at 3600 Norbridge Ave. in Castro Valley in 2009, at a cost of $22,276,000. The location is about six blocks from the current library and two blocks from the BART station. The new facility will include a cafe, community meeting room and 145 parking spaces.

Castro Valley is also served by the Alameda County Bookmobile, a library on wheels with books, magazines, music CDs, etc. for children and adults, which makes regular weekly stops in Castro Valley neighborhoods. Phone 745-1477 for information.
